About The Northwest Author Series

ANNOUNCEMENT: THE NORTHWEST AUTHOR SERIES IS ON HIATUS FOR THE 2012 – 2013 SEASON.

CHECK BACK IN JUNE 2013 TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS FOR OUR 2013-2014 SEASON.

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS.

I’LL MISS EVERYONE!

The Northwest Author Series is an educational series of author workshops put on for the benefit of aspiring writers of all levels from Wilsonville, Oregon and the surrounding areas. All of the authors who present for us are:

  • residents of the Pacific Northwest
  • traditionally published authors
  • experienced writing workshop teachers

The series takes place the third Sunday of each month during the school year (September – May, not including December) and features traditionally published authors, who are passionate about sharing what they have learned with others. The size of the typical audience is 30-50 writers. Authors, who present for us, sign copies of their most recently published book after the workshop.

Writers come to our series to learn new skills that they can turn around and apply themselves. Presenters are encouraged to include primarily how-to instruction in their 90-minute presentations. We seek to provide education as much as entertainment in a lecture-style format with plenty of room for questions and answers.

Presenters in past seasons have included such well-known names as Carmen T. Bernier GrandElizabeth Lyon, Marc Acito, Susan Fletcher, April Henry, Nicole Rubel, and Naseem Rakha.

2011-2012 is our fifth consecutive season as one of the foremost educational author series in the greater Portland area. The Northwest Author Series is sponsored by The Wilsonville Public Library and The Wilsonville Friends of the Library and is hosted by series creator, Christina Katz.

Katz is a Wilsonville resident and the author of The Writer’s Workout, Get Known Before the Book Deal and Writer Mama, all from Writer’s Digest Books. You can learn more about Christina at her website.

Refreshments sponsored by Starbucks and Lamb’s Thriftway are served. Signed books are available for purchase. Door prizes from Writer’s Digest are provided to two lucky attendees each month. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and educational.

Proposals are requested each year during the months of May-June. Proposals will not be accepted at any other time.

The Friends of the Wilsonville Library offers our presenters a modest honorarium to our presenters, which is paid at the time of the workshop.

Thank you for your interest in the Northwest Author Series. We hope we will see you at one of our upcoming events.
